1. Luxembourg City

Luxembourg is the capital of the small European nation of the same name. Built amid deep gorges cut by the Alzette and Pétrusse rivers, it’s famed for its ruins of medieval fortifications. The vast Bock Casemates tunnel network encompasses a dungeon, prison and the Archaeological Crypt, considered the city’s birthplace. Along ramparts above, the Chemin de la Corniche promenade offers dramatic viewpoints.

2. Luxembourg Ardennes

Luxembourg Ardennes (Éislek region) features two nature reserves and Luxembourg's largest lake, the region is a real treasure for nature lovers with many hiking and cycling trails. Magnificent castles, including Vianden and Bourscheid castles, are located here with medieval remains and picturesque villages.

3. Mullerthal Trail

Hiking, waterfalls, and nature. With a length of 112 km, the Mullerthal Trail passes through the Mullerthal Region, which is known as Luxembourg's Little Switzerland. The paths lead through canyons with towering sandstone rock formations and across the many rivers that formed them. Visit the fown of Echternach with its Benedictine Abbey and basilica, old aristocratic houses, narrow streets, and ancient ramparts.

4. Bourscheid Castle

Bourscheid Castle is located near the village of Bourscheid in north-eastern Luxembourg. The medieval castle stands on a site with archeological evidence of structures dating back to Roman times. Standing majestically some 150 metres above the River Sûre, it is enclosed by a circular wall with 11 watchtowers.

5. Vianden Castle

Vianden Castle, located in Vianden in the north of Luxembourg, is one of the largest fortified castles west of the Rhine. With origins dating from the 10th century, the castle was built in the Romanesque style from the 11th to 14th centuries. Gothic transformations and trimmings were added at the end of this period.

6. Upper Sûre Lake

Nature park and treks around the lake. The Upper Sûre Lake is a large reservoir in north-western Luxembourg. It is the largest body of water in the country. It gives its name to the commune of Lac de la Haute-Sûre, which was formed in 1979.

7. Walferdange Castle

Walferdange Castle, located in the small town of Walferdange in central Luxembourg, dates from 1824 when William I of the Netherlands who was also Grand Duke of Luxembourg built it as a stud farm. It is now part of the University of Luxembourg.

8. Larochette

Medieval square, castles and hiking. Larochette Castle stands high above the town of Larochette in central Luxembourg. Dating from the 11th century, the castle was destroyed by fire at the end of the 16th century. Since its acquisition by the State of Luxembourg in 1979, some restoration work has been undertaken.

9. Berdorf

Berdorf is located amid a vast tableland overlooking the valleys of the Black Ernz, the Sure and the Aesbach forest. Many hiking trails lead through silt marshes, past caves, grottos and crevices and on up to amazing cliff viewpoints. Grundhof, Bollendorf-Pont and Weilerbach are situated on the banks of the Sure, at the entrance of the Mullerthal region and Nature Park.• Route 2 of the Mullerthal Trail is very popular.

10. Beaufort Castle

12th-century castle, Neo-Gothic church. Rock formations, and the gorges of the Hallerbach. Beaufort Castle dating from the 11th century consists of the ruins of the medieval fortress and an adjacent Renaissance château. It is located in Beaufort in eastern Luxembourg.

11. Parc Merveilleux

Amusement park and zoo. A fairytale forest and attractions suitable for small children and making a great family destination. The little ones can meet and learn about exotic animals. Hopefully kindling an interest and desire to protect their natural environments around the planet.

12. Clervaux

Clervaux is a commune and town in northern Luxembourg, administrative capital of the canton of Clervaux. The town's arms, granted in 1896, show three blackbirds on a gold ground in the chief of a red shield, as a variation of the arms of the former Lords of Clervaux.

13. Remich

Remich a small tourist town is known as the pearl of the Moselle. Stroll around the forests and vineyards or take a boat trip of the river.

14. Schengen

Schengen is a small wine-making town and commune in far south-eastern Luxembourg, on the western bank of the river Moselle. The commune border includes the tripoint where the borders of Germany, France, and Luxembourg meet.

15. Diekirch

Beer, museums and brasseries. A relaxing tourist town, the museums offer a chance to learn about beer, historical vehicles, military history. For nature lovers there are options to kayak down the river and several hiking trails.

16. Mondorf-les-Bains

Thermal springs along Moselle river. Mondorf-les-Bains is a commune and town in south-eastern Luxembourg. It is part of the canton of Remich. Mondorf-les-Bains is a spa town, and has the only casino in Luxembourg.
