Often overlooked, the diminutive Luxembourg at just 82km long and 57km wide, it is a pocket of condensed charm and a great central location for visiting surrounding countries such as Belgium and the Netherlands. Follow the Moselle valley into Germany or head south and you are soon in Paris. Luxembourg City packs in most of the countries top sights and its historic Old Quarter has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With many small towns dotting the picturesque countryside, there are old fortresses and beautiful castles to punctuate lots of hiking opportunities.
